Default 4l60e transmission need help

I put a ls2 (ls swap) in my 1986 Monte Carlo SS, im installing a 4l60e I took my shifter linkage or shifter control lever off my 700r4 and put it on my 4l60e and I wanted to know if I needed a safety switch lever

No, the Neutral Safety Switch is not needed for trans operation; I personally don't have one. My B&M shifter has a Park/Neutral switch and a Reverse switch which perform the functions of the Neutral Safety Switch that GM puts on the trans.

The one on the left is the stock 2002 f/body switch.
