Hello All,
I recently installed a remanufactured 4L60E into my '99 Z28. Today I noticed that the shifter linkage is not allowing me to shift the car into park or reverse. I have tried to adjust the linkage using the adjustment lever that uses the retaining clip and spring. I've tried several different depths and regardless of the position, it won't seem to go into park or reverse. I can shift the lever manually by hand, however when trying to use the gear selector, the cable seems to bow out releasing tension instead of staying straight and pushing the lever into park. If I try to move the adjustment too far forward I can get into park, however there will not be enough travel to get into 1st anymore.
Is it possible that the shifter cable needs replacement or is there a chance that the there is an issue with the shift lever itself? Maybe I am missing something.
Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you.

Just to check, you're sure the little lever is installed facing the correct direction? The nub the shifter cable bushing fits on should face towards the transmission. I accidentally installed mine backwards at first and it wouldn't let me shift into certain gears, although I forget which ones I couldn't shift into.
after my stall i had trouble with shifting linkage. there is a PLASTIC spacer that after almost 20 years is shot. i jimmy rigged and then bought new shift linkage from rock auto for $50.

I adjusted it and jimmy rigged it as well just to get it to function for the time being. I might end up just ordering another one if I can't adjust it properly.
