Hard downshift
Hard downshift The trans was rebuilt recently with a new stock converter. Replaced everything in the transmission including the wiring and control magnets/valves (whatever you like to call them). The car runs Great, better than new,oh yes it's a 1998 Z28. When I come to a stop it seems to shift very hard into I would say 1st gear. I'm concerned, what controls this? I did nothing to the valve body, do I need to?
Who rebuilt it? What was done other than stock?
I've noticed my two f bodies shift kind of hard while downshifting and on a back out shift. I can see in the stock tuning they are programmed to have higher pressure at very low torque and low to zero throttle. I've thought about messing with the tuning but never have.
I have other vehicles that have similarly built transmissions (I built them all) and they don't have harsh coasting downshifts but aren't programmed to have higher pressure either while off the throttle.
So, in my opinion, that doesn't help. It can make loose u joints and motor mounts make more noise though.
