Default Oil cooler hose needs replacing, what options ?

The cooler hose that goes to the top rad fitting is getting wonky at the crimp connection by the balancer ( rubber getting all cracky ) I see dorman makes a metal and rubber hose to replace from the end of the metal hose by the balancer P/N 624-037.....or I could find some 5/16 high pressure hose ( does any one make such an animal ? ) and just replace the rubber....the ends are crimped like a hydraulic hose, is it necessary to recrimp the same way ? ......no....not wanting to replace with SS braided hose right now

anybody had this problem ?
