Default Finally taking my 80E to the track!

It's not however with the 406 in my sig. A 89 TPI 5.7 long block with my hurricane intake and Meanstreet TB EFI.
So I have NO doubt that this car WILL hook as it has 300+ less hp then the 406 and it did with that engine and a 8" treemaster converter.
My question is, should I just leave the shifter in 3rd after my burnout and let it shift at it's programed setting of 6k that I set it too?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Are you braket racing? Or just go out for fun?
Run it both ways let it shift, then you shift it and see witch is better

Can you tune it yourself? Letting it shift on its own will be more consistent every time. That's what I would do if it were me

Yes. It has a Compushift 1 controlling it.

Ok took the nova out for a rip. Needed to add fuel to accelerator pump shot but let it shift on it's own.
Pretty neat.
I will say I miss the extra 300hp and 200ftlbs of torque tho!!!!
The car dead hooks with the DR's on the street where as the 406 would kill them from a stop!
I'm thinking I might need to lock up my triple disk tho and MAYBE use 4th as there is not enough cam for the 430's.
Do you think what's left of the 240hp tpi engine would kill the 80E IF I had to use 4th for the last couple hunny feet?

I tried both ways with my 80E, had a faster time letting it do the shifting, lol.
Only problem is if using power, and you have to pedal, it gets messed up.
I would avoid going into 4th, less clutches, if a triple dics try lockup instead.

Yeah I remember you telling me about having to pedal it. There is absolutely no shot of this engine NOT getting traction at the track with the ET Pro's! It dead hooks with no warming of the tires on the street!
I'm not use to that! LOL!!!
I'd have to go in the compushift menu and have it lock in 3rd at 80mph and raise the unlock to 100% to keep it locked at wot.

Forcd, It's my thread, show me some engine pics of your avatar!
You really think 240hp will kill a 80e in 4th?
My 406, I wouldn't even think about it!

No, 240 will not kill 4th. If you're worried, block the accumulator for 4th and let her eat
