Default Flex plate

Hey guys,
Have a 4L60 in a 99 TA with about 4500 miles on it, yank 3500 stall,shifts great in all gears and reverse. When the car goes into OD and im at part throttle, the car kinda lugs and I hear a knocking sound at around 50-55. Wondering if the clunking sound it the flexplate bolts loose or a cracked center. If I take the starter off would I be able to see the bolts and check for tightness, a friend say I won't be able to get a wrench in the to check them. Any advice would be appreciated.

That's the only way to get to them...does your friend work on anything?

Its still in the car, can you remove it with the engine still in car?

Heres how I do it on an LS1 4th gen. It's a 1/2" wobble extension at the socket end.

Yes. The picture was of me putting it in, but it would look the same except no torque wrench if I was taking the trans out.
