Default Worth restalling my yank 3600 to 4000???

i have been thinking about getting my yank restalled to 4000. Best 60ft so far was a 1.7 (3:23) You guys think it’s worth the $/effort? Does anyone have back to back e.t.’s? I hook good with my nto5r’s and would like to stick with them. Would roll on power be a little better? Thx

imo it's worth it. Im a bigger fan of the pt series converter as opposed to the ss series.

Use MT radials, re stall to 4K and throw in some 3.73’s.

But when you throw on your N2O kit won't you have to re-stall back to 3600?

Anyone have back to back track passes going from a 3600 to 4000?

At this point, I would forget about a 3.73 swap if the primary goal is better ETs/bang for the buck; this won't be worth more than one tenth of ET reduction at most with a 3600 stall/3.23 already in place. This mod would do more to tighten up street feel than it would to reduce ETs with that converter already installed.

Overall, raising stall speed will do more to lower your ETs than changing gear ratio (unless you're willing to do a big jump in gear ratio....much more than 3.23 to 3.73s).

Regardless, you'll need proper tires, suspension and launch technique for any of this to actually improve 60-foot (I believe you're leaving a bit on the table currently).

Thx for all the replies. Ya I like the mpg I’m getting with the 3:23. I’m thinking I could improve my 60ft a little with my current stall? Still doing a lot of reading/research in order to decide what to do

A few seasons ago I ran 12.2 @ 111mph with ss3600, exhaust and 3.73's. On the same day my buddy ran 11.9 @ 111 mph with pt4000, exhaust and 3.23's

I remember talking to you a bunch of times a while back. Your car has come along way Do you recall the 60ft times? I’ve been researching the pt series after you mentioned it. I like the thoughts of more roll on power. I was recommended to go with the ss4000. I was told the pt and ss both have great topend pull but the ss series hold most all the big ls records.

My 60' with the ss3600 was 1.71
His with the pt4000 I don't remember exactly but they were 1.6x.

I have since went to a Pt4000 and then to a Pt4400.
With the pt4000 I was able to pull 1.5x 60's. No times with the 4400 and probably won't get them for the converter is coming out again for a boost dedicated re-stall.

imo I am a much bigger fan of the Pt series due to being more efficient and better shift extensions. I think you would be happy with either ss or pt but i would push ya more towards the Pt4000.

Do you think shift extensions for pt would be to high for stock cam? Hows were the trans temps with pt4000 vs ss3600? From what I’ve read the ss is a little tighter for day to day driving. 1.5 would be great! What tires were you running?

Didn't notice any temp difference.

I run Hoosier Dr2 275/40/17

No the shift extensions are not to much for stock cam and stock shift points. They are almost perfect

When you had your pt4000 did you already have the cam? If not do you remember what your shift extension were and what your shift point was? I’m on a frost tune.

I already had my setup.

I would imagine your shift extensions would be around 46-4700 rpms with the Pt4000

So 6000 rpm shift points should be good?

The SS3600 is the best street/strip converter imo. Drives real nice and foot braking I cut 1.55 60s at the track with bolt-ons. The 4000 would do better but it's really up to the driver how tolerant they are driving a higher stall on the street. If its a track car mostly I would try the PT series.

what tires/gears? Foot braking to what rpm? My car may see the track once a yr. My shift points are set at 6000 rpm. I corrected it in my previous post. That good for the ss4000?

QTPs and 3:73s. Gears dont help high stall autos like they do manual cars tho. Foot brake till the brakes don't hold. I shift at 6k also. With you only going to the track once a year I would work on the rest of the car before switching converters and sacrificing drivability.

Thx for info. 3:73 probably help your 60ft a tad vs my 3:23. Nothing really left to do to my car besides h/c which I don’t really want to do. Figured for the price of the restall/my time it’s worth say 2 tenth gain in 1/4 and fun factor on the street From what I’ve read and people i talked to the drive ability is not a OMG difference

I ran an 11.8 with my Yank 3600ss and 3:42's but my 60 foot was not all that great, car hooked great with the MT ET streets.
