Default 2001 Suburban

I have a 2001 Suburban, Transmission has 1st 2nd,3rd and reverse that all shift normal, but it has no 4th or lockup. We replaced the old transmission with a used then have this problem Any ideas?

Did you have the same problem with the old transmission that was replaced? Could be a worn 2-4 band. You can use the attached instruction to check the servo travel. You can use some type of pry bar to pry the servo cover in and measure the travel with a strait edge. Too much pin travel could cause no 4th gear. This would be an easy thing to check.

B bond has given some good info. I just need to mention that the extended pin is just a bandaid for an already present problem.

The band is worn and this may get you down the road for a little while longer but it's not the long term fix
