Transgo HD2 4L80e firmness selection
=leftI am doing a 6.0 LS swap with a 4l80e in a 1988 Monte SS with 3:73 rear gears. I have a Transgo HD2 Kit to put in it and wanted to get an idea of what the firmness of the shifts are like with the different drill and spring size selections. The motor is freshly rebuilt, mostly stock with a decent cam (nothing huge). Trans is stock with stock converter, no plans to go with a high stall. I don't take it to the track and don't plan on beating it up to hard other than roasting the tires at the occasional stop light. I want a nice firm shift but don't want it to be jarring. I was thinking of doing the middle of the road selection on springs and drilling.

I did the partial install as recommended by Jake here so long ago, and went with the bigger hole. Shifts fine to me, but i have hptuners to fine tune it.
With the stock torque converter and 3.73's anything larger than .093" on the 1-2 shift will get the part throttle shift firm. On the 2-3 shift, pretty much the same. If you drive more aggressive, then the 2-3 shift feed hole can be .101" - .110" at the most. If you go to a smaller diameter torque converter, it will make the part throttle shifts much better. The WOT shifts will even be quicker, though not quite as firm.
