Default 6L80E Question

I’ve seen several 6L80Es on eBay lately for well under $1K, the only hitch is that they all came out of Corvettes. Is there any reason that one of these couldn’t be used in something other than a Corvette? The reason I ask is because one of the sellers wrote in the description that the transmission could only be used in a Corvette. Is this true? Is the case different or something? I noticed that none of the transmissions for sale come with any kind of bell housing or tail shaft housing,(though they all seem to include the torque converter), but I know that these are available through a bunch of different retailers. Any input is appreciated, and Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone.

http://www.trucktransdiag.com/6l80e.shtml This is just a site to show a picture of the case differences.

Merry Christmas to you also.

The corvette 6l80e has a special case. It cannot bolt up to the 2wd output tailhousing nor a 4wd transfer case.

2wd and 4wd of any other variety can feasibly be swapped...but it requires total teardown of the transmission to change the output shaft. Cases are the same though.

Thanks for your reply. What are the differences, exactly? Just out of curiosity at this point. I mean, the basic cases look the same to me, but then the bellhousing (or lack thereof in the case of the Corvette) and tailshaft areas look to have simple (relative term) bolt on “adapters” to facilitate different applications...
