Default Shift in stall question

Ok guys new here to the 4l80e and fbody I have a 97 with the factory shifter in it. I am wanting to in stall a new B&M quarter stick. I have the right gates and hardware. The question I have is. On the side of the factory shifter there is a electronic box looks to be a gear indicator. Do I need that in the new shifter? The car is on a 2000 Silverado ECU and harness. There is only linkage on the side of the 4l80e no electronic box. Can I make the 4l80e shift through ecu with hp tunes? or if I just hook up the shifter and cable will the car still shift in drive thru the gears?

So the park neutral safety switch must be the black component on the side of the shifter. Now do I need to wire the park switch as well as the neutral in to the ecu?
