Default Which trans for 434ci LSX with 300 shot?

3.54's are the lowest I can go with my strange s60 with the S-trac so even with 28" tires, a RMVB TH400 just sounds like a PITA on the street.

Built 4L80E or no? Not sure I can trust a level V 4L60E in this setup. What would you do?

Do not want gear vendors.

Car is heavy.

There will be those that will tell you "4l60 is fine, just have to build it right", well Evidently no one can build one. Do the 80e and don't look back.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/nitrous-o...-plug-pic.html. Looks like there's at least 1 4l60 up to the task.

Would you say the success rate is higher or lower in high power applications? There's always an outlier or two, in most anything in life.

Torque and heavyweights are the enemies of the 4L60. Vendors here will build you one that'll hold but it'll be $$$. You may be a 4L80 application (i'm going to stay 4L60, car will never be more than H/C/I eventually unless something changes).

I'd say success is higher with a proper build and tune. I know I'll sound like a nut hugger but I have 3 Performabuilt 4l60's. I have a pickup load of 60's that are broke in one form or another from when I first started with 4th gens. At that time I had a stock bottom end running cartek heads, 242/244 cam and a ptc 4200 converter. It hit hard on launch and broke a lot of parts. I had some moderate success with a local builder and was getting a summer out of his tranny. I then blew another rear end out and ordered a 9". Put that in on days off, go to drive car and when rear went so did the forward spray. Wanting to get car on road as fast as possible I looked into the big name companies and found out Performabuilt at the time was 2-1/2 hrs away, now only 45min. So went back on rotation and picked up a lvl 2 on my next days off. Beat the hell out of that for 20,000 shifting at 7k daily then put that whole driveline in my old mans 55 Chevy. Still going strong. My current 02 camaro sits just over 3800 race weight with a lvl 3 running 1.4x 60' and no troubles. Motor is set up for spray but the converters I've had were to loose for my liking to spray so far.

Getting a good 4l60e is pricey don't get me wrong. But I don't believe a real street car should be trailered to many places and when I go to OCMD cruises (6.5 hrs) overdrive is pretty nice. The only down side to a 60 I see anymore is the price of a brake. I don't have one and prob won't unless the price gets cut in about half.
