Default How much would you pay?

Trying to find some current information as a lot is out dated, but how much would you pay for a used pullout 4l80? $500 is about as cheap as I can find and that just seems high to me. Am I wrong or is it just my area?

Last 5 I bough were all under 150 bucks...non-working cores, or junkyard cores that you don't know if they're good or not.

If you're going to try to pull a junkyard 80e, or buy a used one...and put it in a car...that's just silly.
I could post plenty of pictures ive taken personally in my shop...and I could post links to numerous other threads on the issues 4l80e have.

YES they are stronger than the 60e...no doubt...but it's absolutely foolish to think they don't have their own slew of problems.

The last four cores I bought were $40 a piece. None needed any hardparts. The cores I got back from the vehicles those went in are basically parts transmissions. Had many bad parts.

I don't plan on just throwing it in there, lol. That's the exact reason I don't want to pay $500 just to check it and see it needs more than just the HD2 kit I planned on putting in it. So where are y'all finding your transmissions at? eBay is steep. Craigslist isn't much better and I can't find anything within 60 miles of me on FB. So any tips would be appreciated. It's going in an 03 Silverado with a 7875 or s475. Haven't figured it out yet.

Oh Jeez. Another HD2 kit believer.

If you're going to rebuild the trans...you don't need an HD2.
Everything the HD2 does...you can do internally...for less money...with better results

If you want to find em cheap...you need to get your hands dirty, go to a wrecking yard, and pull one.
Or know someone who has excess laying around their shop and wants to dump em

Excuse me. I didn't know. That's common belief on another forum so I thought that was the normal. Thanks for pointing that out though about the HD2. Do you have any certain write ups or links you prefer?

There's about 10 write ups on this page alone.

How much power you trying to put this behind?

I get my cores from a junkyard I've been going to for the past 30 years.
Probably a unique situation because they have a core pile that goes to rebuilders. Then they have a return pile of stuff that people bought and just installed and it didn't work so they brought it back. So I get them before they get transfered to the core pile.
And it's a one owner yard with two counter guys. Don't give them problems or ask stupid questions the prices drop.

I'll build the occasional 60e for the counter guy at my local wrecking yard...do it realllllll cheap.
I always happen to be the first to get calls/notifications when 4l80e/6.0/gen 4 5.3's come into the yard.
Well worth building the 60

i laughed when I read this. I agree. I see way too many people say just throw a HD2 kit in it and thats all you need. I mean Sloopy mechanics does that and it lives. Yea, I'd go out on a limb and say that those dyno queens dont get driven hard on the regular. I drive my **** like i stole it some days. And still drive it alot and smash it a good bit.
