Default B&M 4L80e any good?

Anyone here use the B&M 4L80e that they sell for about 2400 at summit and jegs. I tried getting a local builder but price is a little high. I wonder what the difference is in a B&M and one of the sponcer built trannies that are 1k more? I really just want one to handle 600hp and be reliable and take some abuse. Price for trannies are all over the place. I did have 1 local built tranny done and it didnt hold up like i wanted it to. I just dont feel like doing this more than one time again but i dont want to spend an extra grand on something maybe not needed? What would you do ?

B&M anything is no good. Maybe shifters and coolers.

Well back to ground zero. I sure dont have many options because I dont know anyone to trust locally. Seems like one guy locally could do it for me but he seems a little bit on the high side as well.

When, not if, the B&M fails it's going to cost you more money. I wouldn't even look at it as cheaper or cost effective.

One of the better info sources I've run in to is the Diesel truck forums for tranny info,,
You have to dig through the truck-i-tude but one thing they do know is breaking transmissions..

Rebuilt one last month from a silverado conversion, truck overpowered the input shaft and snapped it in two. It had a standard upgrade performance build with high energy clutches and bands, bearing on the output shaft, 6 clutch direct, machined pump assembly with new boost valve and line to lube mod, valve body was reamed with new AFL valve, new solenoids and wireharness. The plate mods were on the conservative side with 3rd accumulator blocked and 4th still active. Everything still looked fresh and clean, customer wanted to add a Hughes billet input shaft and forward hub with bearing, serviced his Circle D converter and off he went. For a basic build it was all within specs and had little upgrades, if they would add a quality input shaft probably worth the price for an off the shelf unit.
