Linkage Adapter for 4l60e in fbody?
Bought a rebuilt 4l60e transmission, already gave my core back. Transmission is installed by me and is in and working.
The shifter shaft coming out of the trans appears to be the longer truck one, so the "ball" that I attach my shifter cable to is like maybe an inch "out" from the trans.
The cable actually reaches and attaches now and works, but out of adjustment slightly and I suspect no adjustment will get it right since it's pulling that rod at an angle instead of straight on.
First question, will adjusting shift cable make this work or am I wasting my time?
Second question, it occurs to me that an adapter to extend the shift cable bracket that bolts to the trans bottom "out" to match the rod would be easier for a DYI guy, does one exist, and if not any reason not to try to fab one?
Third question, the notched plate that has the ball attached comes off, and it seems to line up perfectly if I were to install it backwards so the ball is on the INSIDE of the arm, and the cable does allow the connector to spin 180 to attach to the now inward facing ball. Of course the notch in the ball-arm is wrong when placed on backwards so I'd need to notch it properly but that really looks like a simple workable fix, anyone try that?
Thread linked below explains how to switch the rod, don't want to open the pan unless I have to. Might also void my warantee. Builder is about 4 hour round trip and has no garage to work on transmissions in the car.

I'd change the shift shaft or have your builder do it.
Or call the builder and ask him if it's ok if you do it.
Trust me, it's way easier than rigging some crap up that lands right between detents or falls off. I don't care if you're a master machinist or whatever. Do the job right.
