Th400, which one? Rmvb , fmvb
people don't know how to drive them/don't like to drive them when cruising. They'll be in 3rd and they want to drop it down into 2nd and feel that familiar engine braking before they hammer it...that's the "feel" part
When they drive it wrong...they'll be in 3rd and decide they want to do a rip in 2nd gear...so they'll pull the shifter to 2nd, wait a second (even though they won't feel it downshift because they'll effectively be in neutral with the sprag overrunning) and then hammer the gas...this shocks the hell out of the sprag and if you make enough power/weigh enough, you'll explode the sprag. What they SHOULD do, is downshift under power...which is a very hard thing for alot of guys to do apparently. If you're in 3rd, lightly roll into the throttle, then downshift into 2nd, and never stop accelerating. Be on the gas lightly, pull it into 2nd, then floor it.
And game ova...if you're ending your burnouts in 2nd gear...you're asking for a broken sprag. That is a great way to explode one. So to the OP's credit...yes you should always pop the shifter into 3rd before ending a rolling burnout.

LOTS of guys end it in 2nd gear...and everything is fine and dandy for 60 burnouts and then it is the 61st that grenades the sprag...or the 101st...but at some point it's going to go.
Sounds like OP needs to pick if he wants clean neutral ( a totally useless novelty for 98% of the racers that think they need it) or engine braking...i don't know of anybody that makes a VB that does both.
