Default What year 60e has heat treated sunshell?

Anybody know this for sure? I have an 05 that I am rebuilding and was going to reuse the factory sunshell because it is in nice shape and I thought I heard around 04 gm came out with a better quality unit?

Take a picture. There should be stamped numbers on the inside of the drum on the "floor"

Unfortunately I already have it installed in the trans which is halfway back together, just second guessing that part now.

Yeah lol I honestly wouldn't risk it. Broken sunshell is basically a guaranteed failure if you have the affected design

04 is right in that timeframe where it *should* have a heat treated sunshell. But no gaurantees.
03+ is the usual break point where the better shell got introduced. so I would say 95% chance you're good

The information that I have found over the years, was in late 2001 the heat treated sunshell came about. 1999's through mid 2001's were the ones that were stripping out. 2005 sunshell is heat treated.
