Put the thing in the car, problem solved. Sometimes, experience is the best teacher.

"proprietary components that can't be serviced"

If that shop is telling you that...run...just run.
Everything inside it that would need to be serviced...can be.

If you want to make excuses fine...run the converter you have...but close this thread because you're not listening to anyone's advice...so why bother being here?

Look, I'm not trying to be obtuse. I came in here and asked what could cause the lower than rated stall, because the stall i had was lower than rated. My only point to that question was to try and root out any other possible issue I could have with the engine or if any mechanical stuff in the transmission could effect it as well because the only thing i did know was that if the torque you have isn't what the thing was made for it wont be the same. I did not come asking how to make a 13" converter stall past 3k, I know that isn't possible, I'm not arguing it will. That converter had a fucked up part in it that was not machined perfect. He fixed it for free and put on a new pump side because I had a helicoil in a couple of the bolt holes and he put in the larger center hub. Done deal. It is a $5000 sloppy mechanics turbo truck that gets driven like the Duke brothers own it on cold pavement that never hooks up anyway and still hauls **** around in the back and has a ball hitch on it. This is what it is and it lives on junk yard parts and Chinese turbos. It will be a waste of money putting one of those converters in this truck. I never asked what converter to use in the first place...

It's weird how people **** on good advice.
Yet they will praise wrong advice because it's what they wanted to hear. Unfortunately you can't just make **** up and tell someone something will work even though it won't (because a possible follow up question is how).

By the way, the pump side of a converter faces the transmission. I guess you could have stripped the stall speed adjustment screw.
