Default 4l80e Frictions

So I managed to rebuild my 4l80e last year and it worked great for like, 5k miles. Lost reverse, still had great holding power in all 4 forward gears, and still had engine breaking in first manual. Tried reverse pin extender, it didnt work. When manually shifting into first, it felt like I had a trans brake engages but I can assure you, one does not exist on this trans. I decided at that point I'll pull the trans and rebuild, again, but also try to figure what I fubar'd. Took the trans apart, the reverse bank looks barely even used, the frictions all look great, no scarring or burning. Doesnt matter, replacing them anyways.

My question pertains to the year of trans. I know it's a 96 or earlier. But when going to buy frictions, they come in 96 or later. So, how do I figure out which trans I have because it could be a 95 or a 96. Or, does it matter? It looks like the difference is in friction thickness. Id just like to get whats right in case whatever was in there, was wrong.

Let me know.

Mix and match to get the number of frictions you want in each stack and what clearance you want them at.
Go with all BorgWarner High energy green.
All years will interchange no problem...just adjust for proper clearane
