Default Trouble with my 4l60e

I have a recently rebuilt 4l60e in a 2000 2wd. I just installed it and when I crank the truck up the indicator light jumps from park to 3rd without me touching the shifter???? If I put it in reverse it drives forward. No matter what I do it moves forward? Any help on what is going on???

sounds like you have the shifter hooked up wrong.........

unhook the linkage and put the lever on the trans in park...if that solves your problem...fix the linkage

How do I know when the shifter on the transmission is in park?

When the lever won't go forward anymore...and the driveshaft won't spin anymore (rear wheels off the ground)

I turned on the key, put it in neutral manually and the truck rolls. I put it in park and it will not move... like it is supposed to. When I crank the truck the indicator light says it’s in park and after a few seconds the light jumps to 3rd and I only have forward gears

It is time to start looking at electrical and electronic components... Have you changed any during or after the rebuild?

Could be neutral safety switch out of adjustment.
