Powerglide for 60 rolls??

Default Powerglide for 60 rolls??

Anyone know how well a glide would work in a 60 roll race situation vs a 4L60e? Would it suck..would it work great? 1100-1400 hp twin turbo C5 vette and my 4l60 has been great both drag racing and rolls when I get bored but just recently moved up a lot in power and thinking bout putting a glide in the car for durability but wondering how that would effect the once in awhile roll race when nobody wants to go from a dig.

A lot of it will probably depends on your rear gear ratio and your tire height just like any other trans. It should work pretty well, because you should be able to drop into 1st @60 and hammer down. There are calculators out there that you can put the raw data in and determine off if that.

its 1.8 first gear glide with a 3.42 in my rear and a 28” tall tire. The whole turbo thing is gonna be new to me..heard if I was in 2nd to brake boost it up when I go stomp it as well. Appreciate it.

For a glide you should be in first for a 60 roll, 1st gear should go to 100 or even higher depending what you rev too with a proper converter. I would never say 4L60 and 1400hp in the same sentence ever again!

Lmfao!! “I would never say 4L60 and 1400 hp in the same sentence ever again!”...ik..It’s a level 6 FLT was gonna be a level 7 with a transbrake in it shorty...it’s actually back at Finishline now still on a pallet when i started thinking bout going glide instead. Talked to a few guys making 1100-1280 rwhp here lately but ik that 3-4 clutch pack is gonna go out eventually....and a glide is $9-12k from RPM or ECS for a vette. I really don’t wanna chance it and that’s why I was wondering how busting off some 60 rolls was gonna be cause they do a lot of that around here.

When I had a glide it was great, did everything I asked of it trouble free. My only gripe was it was boring so went back to manual. The vette tax is real, that's a damn pricey glide! Didn't a guy recently come out with a cheaper alternative for installing them (farm vette comes to mind), I heard some issues with his trans internals or converter or something but you can get those multiple places.

yea ..you have to cut your tunnel up a lil but not bad...custom length driveshaft and torque tube and all
and I’ve ordered a dss 3.5” aluminum driveshaft for my car already and like the 18 ratio of the glide for launching on the street and getting out the hole smoother. But cool sounds like it won’t be bad at all.
