Default New to group needing advise

I’m currently doing by first Build and need some advise. Using a 2004 LQ4 from a Escalade and trying to use a 6L80 from a 08 Escalade. Been told the flexplate will have to be changed. Is this a fact or can I use the factory flexplate and the starter and torque converter will work as it should. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to LS1Tech! Not a lot of traffic here in intro section. Re-post the question over in our Automatic Transmission section. You’ll get plenty of help over there from some very knowledgeable folks.

If I'm not mistaken the Cadillac Escalade never came from the factory with a LQ4. The second gen Escalades were powered by 5.3l and the 6.0l LQ9. So I hope you have the LQ9 as it has more compression than the LQ4. If you are going to control the engine with the factory ecm , you will need a controller to operate the 6l80e trans.

This info from erpmextreme.com E""The Engine Control Modules (ECM) that communicates with the 6L80/90 Transmission Control Module (TCM) is programmed to only recognize Gen IV LSx engines. Specifically the 58X crankshaft reluctor ring, the 4x cam shaft sprocket".
If you engine is a LQ4 or LQ9 it is a GEN III LSx engine (24X crankshaft reluctor) and will not comunicate with the 6l80e trans
There are work arounds to make it all work... you will have to decide if it is all worth it. Good luck with your build n

If it truly came out of an escalade, and it's a 6.0, it's an LQ9 which is awesome.
