4L80E mods for most brutal shifts
here's a little story. I have an 80e I put together in a huge hurry last year for use behind a weekend rebuild/slugfest cammed 6.0. absolute minimum work. hd2 VB sandwich plate and the line pressure bump mods, nothing else used from the kit. it probably would have been fine that way but i also felt spicy so i added a stiffer spring to the 1-2 shift valve.
coupled with the line pressure bump it was absolutely the worst thing ive even done to the truck. neck snapping 1-2 at any throttle angle. tuning the EPC did nothing to help.
and I can stand a lot. In nice weather I damn near daily my turbo car with transbrake (waffles and no EPC at all) and its a peach in comparison
I still have that trans. its on the floor waiting for OP to come get it lol

Back when 4L80E CORES were near impossible to find and used ones were $1500+ (IOW when they first came out) I bought a truck with no transmission, it came with a 4L80E.
I built a th350 for it and drilled the feed holes to 3/16" and blocked accumulators. This was a dually. I drove it around the block maybe twice. Would shift so hard it would make me cringe because I didn't feel like walking home.
I tore it out and built it normally and ran it a few months until I found a good core at a fair price and it's been in there since.
The moral of the story is, do what you want. Hopefully you know what it feels like when it's trying to destroy itself. Then you get to do it again.
Theres no better learning experience than taking your idea and finding out it doesn't work.
