The reason I joined the group is because I have 55 Pontiac Chieftain that I will be swapping a 5.3 into it. To that end I bought a 2003 Tahoe as a donor vehicle with a transmission issue. It won't go into 3rd, it just revs up and slips. I bought a filter and gasket kit with two solenoids to see if that would cure it but even after doing the drain and swap and filter and even adding Lucas magic juice and fresh fluid, it still does the same thing.
My options are to have the trans rebuilt (and converted to two wheel drive via a tail shaft kit which I'd have to do anyway), or, I have a 94 camaro with an lt1 and a 4l60e available but I'm reading conflicting Information on weather it will work with the 5.3 or not.
So, my question is, will that 94 transmission work or should I have the original rebuilt or should I just buy one off eBay for $1200?
Thanks for listening.

You want other people to tell you how to spend your money on your project?
The 1994 can be made to work.
It will not be a "bolt in swap"

A quality rebuild is the best option in my opinion

Since you'd have to go through either unit, I'd go with the 2003 since numerous upgrades were make to the 4L60e since 1994. Plus the input shaft is already compatible with your 5.3 unlike the 94.

I'd be cautious about what you'll find on ebay for $1200. Chances are you good you might have to go through that one if you bought it.

I will purchase the 1994 valve-body from you!

I am running low on original steel-valves for these units...
They make great repair tools for when a small burr is found in the valve-body.

Well, if I decide to rebuild the 94, I'll let you know.
