Strange noise when installing boost valve on 4l60e
When I was installing my transgo boost valve into my 4l60e something in that area made a loud ping noise like a spring flew off of something so I pulled the boost valve back out and everything looked ok. But now I can't help but feel like I broke something or something is broken If the boost valve is broken or not working properly what would the symptoms of that be? I just don't understand how slightly pushing on the boost valve after it was all the way in the bore did this?
Well, I inspected the bore and valve everything looked good so I re installed the boost valve. Got the pan and filter back on, filled it up with oil, and took it for a test drive and have to say i'm not that impressed with this transgo hd2 kit other than a firmer 1-2 shift everytthing else seems the same as it did before. Still got the corvette servo to install which I didn't do because I didn't have enough access to do it might lower the trans down and do that in a few weeks.
Honestly, out of the Big-Company kits produced for this transmission... the TransGo set is the better choice.
None of this these types of kits does "everything" for a Performance minded build.
The TransGo set does a fair amount of helping circuits/ systems that do not necessarily contribute to what the driver feels...
and helping 1-2 shift feel be adjustable.
The 2-3 shift still needs other modifications for improvement.
For any of you other DIY guys looking do to this type of rebuild/ modification...

He has taken some of TransGo's solutions, and some of GMs solutions, that we were NOT permitted to implement (primarily do to cost).

First, what torque converter diameter and stall are you using here? Rear end gear ratio? And how do you drive? Moderate? Moderate aggressive? Or aggressive? Lastly was the transmission working fine before the kit installation? Before making the modifications I would recommend here, install the Corvette servo and get the band clearance to a minimum. One large gold colored shim should work fine. Once I have the correct information here, I will give the the specifics. Did you install a new separator plate? If you did, is it a GM plate or the TransGo plate?

Torque converter is all stock and so is the gear ratio. I'd say i drive moderate. Transmission was working fine before I installed the kit. And I installed a new transgo hardened seperator plate and drilled the holes according to the transgo hd2 kit instructions. From all the reviews I have read about this kit such as "it's the best thing I ever did I wish I did it sooner" I expected more from the kit performance wise.
