Th400 no reverse only when hot
I am having issues with my automatic th400 in my 89 K2500 the transmission will only go in reverse if it is not at operating temperature. It acts like it's in neutral if at operating temperature. Sometimes you can feel it catch into reverse but it doesn't move. Also it's 100% stock no trans brake no modifications.
If anybody has any suggestions or ideas I would greatly appreciate it
-and you have some small or large issue with shifting from 2nd to 3rd (or 3rd slips), then the direct clutches are burning up.
-If you have no issues with the 2-3 shift (or 3rd gear), the the Low-Reverse band/ reaction carrier would be worn.
(it may be possible to install a longer servo-pin {or add length with welding filler material} and restore some of the reverse operation)
