4l60e stuck in 3rd gear

Default 4l60e stuck in 3rd gear

I swapped a 6.0L lq9 into a 83 cutlass, I'm using a 4l60e transmission and the only drive gear it has is 3rd gear. I manually got under the car and put it in 1st gear and it still feels like it's stuck in third. It does have reverse. Anyone else experienced this problem.

Do you have any DTCs? Sounds like its in default or limp mode.

P0650 code is the only thing showing up.

You should delete one of these two threads so that all of the replies are in one place. As for your trans issue, you have an electrical problem.

If you are only using one PCM for both the engine and transmission together, but the engine operates properly then as the other have stated... power is not being properly supplied to the transmission.

If you are piggy-backing two PCMs... then the PCM for the transmission may be dead.

I checked the plug on the transmission and about 4 pin holes are hot when key is on.. does all the pins need to be hot

These are the wires i have coming out of the stand alone harness by my fuse box. I already hooked the obd2 wire up, this is whats left.

Why would someone piggy-back two PCMs for a simple combination like that?

Fix the mouse nest and get the wiring right and issues will likely go away.
Codes are typical of no power to trans, or criss cross wires giving false signal

Yea, it seems like the trans isn't getting power. It will only drive in third and reverse if no power is present. If you need wiring info lt1swap.com is a good place.
