Co worker having transmission problems. 4l60e
He recently had a 92mm intake and throttle body installed along with some suspension items.
Now he says it bounces off the rev limiter a few times between the 2-3 shift before it makes the shift. Based off my own experience I said it's the transmission. His tuner says it's the transmission. The guy that did the transmission says it's the tune. I'm not 100% sure who did the transmission. I don't really know much about his car since we are on different shifts & he caught me at a bad time at work so we didn't get a chance to talk much.
Anyone have any ideas? Or should I come back with more information?
However there are of course other possible reasons for what the issue is, other than the transmission.
More investigation/ research must be done.
With any vehicle that has electronic control and monitoring for the Power-Train...
Always start out with Diagnostic Trouble Codes, Live and History Data.
If the Automatic Transmission is suspect:
-Ensure that the ATF level is at or above the "FULL" mark, when the vehicle has completely warmed-up, while the engine is at an idle and the transmission gear-selector in the Park position.
-Next ensure that the ATF condition is not dark/ burned and/ or contains any metal/ debris.
-Next ensure that the Line-Pressure is above the minimum for every gear-range at idle and at approx. 1,200 RPM.
If the ATF condition is extremely poor and/ or the Line-Pressure is lower than specified (especially if the vehicle/ transmission mileage is over 100,000 miles)...
It is time to remove the Transmission assembly and Repair + Rebuild, or Replace.
Good luck!

I know you said you didnt get the chance to get much info, but when was the trans done? What did he do it? But im also like Vortec, checking line pressure manually would be a good start as well as checking input / output speed comparisons via data logging with HTP or the like
If the tuner is readily available and cooperative, have him reduce the WOT 2-3 shift speed by 5 mph or even more. This will ensures the shirt occurs at the specified RPM. The PCM commands the shift when BOTH the WOT Shift RPM and WOT Shift MPH are reached. Many tuners keep the WOT Shift MPH 5-10% lower than needed to ensure the shift occurs at the tuned RPM.
He is taking the car back to the tuner tomorrow morning. Transmission was done in 2018. I will show him what you guys are saying. Hopefully its nothing serious
Thanks guys
Now hear is another thing my coworker said. There is a 2002 camaro sitting at his tuners garage waiting to be picked up. 4l60e from the same transmission builder, same 92mm intake and throttle body, & makes about 30 more hp than what my coworkers car does but this other camaro doesn't do what my coworkers camaro does. I said get the transmission looked at before raising the rpm.
Not really sure what my coworker is going to do. Still thinking things over. What do you guys think?
Sorry for the book lol

Obviously raising the engine cut-off RPM is risky and not a good solution.
Having read and posted on many similar threads here, it is a high probability it is a marginal/poor transmission build.
The tuner can easily reduce the WOT shift RPM by a bit and (as I stated earlier) the WOT shift MPH by 5-10% to ELIMINATE this problem even if the trans is slipping more than it should. Of course with a marginal/slipping trans, it will soon come back.
Ask the tuner for a copy of the tune and post it here. Many of use can interpret an a tune from HP Tuners or EFI Live. If the tuner refuses, what is he/she hiding?
