Question Question for those with a Cheetah shifter

I've got a Cheetah shifter with a reverse pattern and a th400. I've got a question about the shifter itself. When you pull down, out of neutral, it hits the gate and pulls the shifter to the right and into 1st. Then you pull it straight down into 2nd and it hits the gate again. Is it supposed to pull it to the left, so that you can just pull it straight down into 3rd? Someone mentioned to me that it is supposed to, but mine hasn't done that since the day that I bought it. Just wondering.

I run the same set up.

Park
Reverse
(gate) - You have to "lift" the stop to get it over the gate - mandated by NHRA/IHRA
Neutral - right on the other side of the gate
1st - just the 1st notch - about 1/2 way down - you'll feel it go into gear
2nd - "pop" it down from 1st it will "automatically" go over to the right - you are now ready to go into 3rd
3rd - "pop" it down

Here's the link - http://www.turboaction.com/frame.html .. Mine is the 70073b

You can see the shift pattern I am talking about.

By the way, love it. I am a converted M6. Instead of slamming the gears, I can now literally use 2 fingers to shift. The 1st to 2nd is just a small "pop" down - it will automatically move to the right, and you are ready for 3rd. Easy

Same for my Cheetah. I converted from an M6 as well. Since the swap, I never looked back.

Thanks for the help. Apparently I have the 70075. Don't know yet if I ordered the wrong one or if Summit sent me the wrong one. I'm about to find out though.

Yep...Summit sent me the wrong one. And since I was a dumbass and threw the box away, they won't swap it out for me. What they will do though, is exchange gates with me. So all I have to do is take the gate off of mine, send it to them, and they'll send the right one. Any of you guys ever take the gate off of yours? I removed the handle (screw on top, under sticker), and I found 4 lil' bolts (2 in front, 2 in back), but that thing still isn't coming off. Anyone ever done this?

Yeah, I'm going to tomorrow. I'm just getting anxious and wanted to get that thing off tonight so I can send it first thing in the morning. Patience has never been one of my attributes. Guess I better learn, huh.
