Unlike the camaro, my trans am doesnt have OD in the gear selection....just 123 and D. I was always told that 3rd was just like D but without the OD shift at high speeds (110+). Has anyone else heard this?

Yea on the T/A's the "D" is the overdrive.

i have a 98 a4 z28 with stock gears and converter and if i nail the gas it will downshift to first at 35-37 mph max. but if u grab the shifter u can get into first at 40-45mph no prob. highest i ever tried was about 43 mph
