Default Case Check ball blocked off

I have seen some posts on a Facebook 4l60e page about people removing the 3rd accumulator check ball and capping it off at the end, so the case is sealed but not the accumulator. Is this a good or bad idea and what would it achieve. I dont trust anything I read on FB, but it can make for interesting reading and a laugh, this is the only site that I trust what people recommend.

Bad idea.

Common Transmission Shops used to try and get away with this 20 years ago, to avoid "come-backs" for a leaking Third Accumulator Check-Ball Capsule.
Do not do this... the Third Accumulator Check-Ball Capsule needs to be there to exhaust the circuit properly/ rapidly.

If unsure about the Third Accumulator Check-Ball Capsule sealing:
-Try to re-seat the Ball in the Capsule
-or use a new Capsule
-or use an aftermarket Capsule (Superior Transmission part #K0136)

Before I started doing my own transmission I had my 4l60e done at a shop do this. I undid it and the shift timing is much better. The timing and band clearance was so out of wack from the shop compared to were I am now.
They also had the Sonnax servo release check valve and that went bye bye too.

No Third Accumulator Capsule... just a hole...

and then the Sonnax Check-Valve?

Wow! Great 4L60E work done at that Shop.
