200-4R Forward Clutch Clearance
Depending on how the Valve-Body was modified, and how the Separator-Plate was modified and orificed...
That 0.060" Bleed-Hole in the Direct Drum could have been the cause (as Jake said).
Do you recall whether the Direct Drum or Direct Piston had Check-Ball Orifices/ Check-Valves? ...One or the other... or both? I will have to dig this unit out and get back to you, it is buried
An easy way to burn-up the Direct Clutch and Intermediate-Band is by having one of the Check-Ball Orifices/ Check-Valves not sealing when the Direct Clutch applies. I air checked everything with 40psi
Since the other day when Jake mentioned the Direct Drum bleed-hole...
I have been thinking about how I set up the Valve-Body and Dual-Feed; since I have not had a Clutch or Band failure when using the bleed-hole. I would be curious as how you did it too. I built stock replacement for most of my life. When it came to performance, it was usually mild performance. TransGo SK's always served me well. most builders will not give out their "secrets" and they will die with them, because they wont share with the young blood. At 65 I want to learn and share, because 4 speed automatic's are going to dry up within the next 10 years.
It is always interesting to me... how even one small variable can create drastically different conditions/ results. I have to agree on that.

I agree that there are many people that do not share their secrets...
However, most of the Builders on the Forum are happy to share how they do what they do.
I am almost always willing to share information...
I share most of everything that I do... I only keep about 10% of what I do, to myself.
Maroon Monster also is constantly sharing most of everything that he does.
PBA shares most of everything that he does.
and most of all the DIY Builders on the Forum, also share.
I personally feel that there are some things that a Builder can/ should keep to themself (for Business reasons or other)...
Especially when they are so open about sharing the majority of what they do in a place like this.
Realistically we don't have to share... it took a lot of time and hard work to gain the knowledge and experience that we have...
and yet we do share quite a bit.
