Default 1996 4l60E interchange question

I have a 96 ws6 trans am lt1 car that the trans has went out. This car has a 4l60e without the removable bell housing. I have a fresh rebuild 1997 4l60E with the full round removable bell housing. My question is will that transmission work in my trans am? Thank you in advance. I’ve done some searching can’t get a straight answer that I can find.

As long as they're both LT1 transmissions, they will definitely bolt together. I don't think the electronics changed on those years.

You talking a 97 bolt on bell lt1 make sure it is an LT STYLE compare the input shafts, But if so yes but you will need the tail housing from a 98 up TA , CAMARO or FireBird unless you have relocated the torque arm .
Another way to verify it is an LT is if it has a bolt hole dead center top of bell it is not,

I have a tail shaft for the 97. Also I know that the 97 trans came off of a 350 v8 so should be correct bolt pattern and input shaft. Do that make a dust cover for the Torque converter since it won’t be bolting to the lt1s oil pan?
