Default 97 Camaro shifter shaft seal

Hello Everyone!!

This question is in regard with my 1997 Camaro RS V6 with 4L60E transmission. Had a few issues with the tranny leaking. Got the main, rear seals fixed and the head gaskets replaced. Also had the fill pan and gasket replaced but it’s still leaking, so I took it to the shop and the guy said it’s leaking from the shifter shaft seal and I need to take it to a tranny shop to get it fixed. I was thinking of getting it done myself. Has anyone done this before and how hard is it. I did a lot of google search and forums but couldn’t find anything on the 4th generation F body. Tons of video on TH350/400. On 4th generation it seems to have a umbrella type pin in the shifter shaft connected to the shifter cable. I’ll post picture once it’s daylight outside. It’s 3 am now so it won’t help. Hoping to tackle the issue this weekend if I can get enough info. Hoping to get it done without dropping the pan. Thanks guys!!

A Shift Lever Shaft Seal Tool Installer/Remover will make easy work of it without removing the pan. I found one on Amazon for under $25. You may be able to find one for less.

Make certain that the Selector-Shaft is butter-smooth or you will just keep tearing Seals and leaking.
