I’ll never use a 4 pinion planet again
I guess I personally don't understand why after breaking a 60/65/70 whatever, why someone continues to throw good money after bad at building one, when a 80e swap is so easy. The 80 is a more simple, robust transmission, and doesn't require a yearly or bi-yearly rebuild if your running 600 hp through it. I am not a professional, but I've been inside both, it's clear to me how and why the 80 is superior in strength.
I know to each their own, but that's like trying to make 1000hp with a 1.8, and expecting it to live for years and 100,000 miles.

While I agree that a purpose built 4L60E for a 1,000 HP Engine, is not a great idea...
I do admit that I enjoy modifying things in order to handle more power.
I feel that this type of enjoyment, is part of what has brought about the Parts that we now have readily available.
Going back to the 4L80E...
700 - 750 HP is where I like to transition over from a 4L60E to a 4L80E.

I agree. This truck that I built the trans for shouldn’t have no more than 700-750hp. It’s a 5.3 with a 7875. I don’t like the design of the 4l80 so far. Over complicated for nothing. It’s not simpler than a 60e that’s for sure.

= Yes, Trick question. Two Speeds, up to Six Speeds.

I did not think anyone would have been able to search for the right answer from the Image of the Gear-Set.
You Win!
So would you like your 5-Pinion Planets... in 18 Pieces, or in 26 Pieces?
I do have a Pair of 4-Pinion Planets, that are only in 2 Pieces.

first time I ever won anything and it was a trick. Lol. Just my luck!
He really is a good sport. I have given him **** numerous times for his seeming love of 4l60 transmissions. Personally, I would like to mod a 722.6 for LS motors, but that is one of my personality flaws.
Would this mean there are more damaged 4l65's & 4l70's than 60's? How would you come to the conclusion it was caused by the poor design and not increased power used in the 65/70 vehicles?
