383 SBC mated to 4L60e
Hello,
Back again for another 4L60e build. My first build is still running awesome and I beat on it daily in the '03 'Burb. Got about 10k on her now. Could not have built it without the generous help from people on this forum.
Next project is a little different; A friend's 1976 Monte Carlo.
It's a later SBC with the one piece RMS *but* it has a two piece 400 (3.75") crank with the adapter
I want to build and mate another 4L60e up to this sbc and run it with a tcm controller of some sort. Not worried about that as there are several out there.
After research and speaking to Dana about this combo and purchasing one of his kits (awesome dude), I have this in mind:
For the 4L60e
LT Bellhousing, 298mm input shaft, housing, stator, torque converter (all LT)
For the SBC
Stock configuration 400 flywheel with external weight and 10.75" bolt pattern such as the TCI399373.
This flywheel has both the LS bolt pattern 11.066" and the traditional smaller 10.75" pattern. I plan on using the 10.75" with the LT converter.
Basically I 'm just double checking here with the forum that what I have in mind will work.
Now I'm thinking all this will bolt up with no clearance issues since the LT style 4L60e was mated with sbc blocks from the factory.
There's a bunch of swaps that go the other way by mating the older 350 and 400 transmissions behind LS style blocks.
That kicks off a litany of possibilities for long and short cranks (LQ4/4L80e), dished or flat flex plates, different converters with different pilot lengths, etc..
So am I correct and is this a straight bolt on? Or does anyone know of anything I'm missing?
Thanks for reading and I'm looking forward to this next project.
