Default First 4L80e hop-up?

I just purchased a 2003 4l80e trans. that supposed to have only 104k miles. It was yanked back in 08 and sitting since. I will put in a trans filter/gasket and tail shaft seal at a minimum.
I plan to make sure it works properly at first but then I want *** upgrades that will make it durable. I hope to get 2 yrs service while I save for a professional rebuild

what would be simple upgrades I could perform? FWIW, I don’t know chit about trannys.

thanks,
jimbo

sitting since 08...in what environment?
it will most likely be in your wallet's best long term interest to just overhaul it now.

The only real benefits you can do right now would be valve body modification...transgo being the most popular...but there needs to be many steps left out of a transgo kit imo

Ok. This had been sitting in a storage building. The fluid removed and they said they always remove the pan to drain the fluid and check for debris.

I don’t want to do any but filter, tail seal and a new dipstick and seal until I know it works properly. If it does, than I will do a transgo shift kit

Better to leave some fluid inside and reduce rust formation.

there will almost certainly be rust on alot of parts if it was sitting since 08.
condensation is a real mean mistress.

if you wish to just run it...go ahead and roll the dice and run it. Might be A-OK
filter and pan gasket are ok...but why such a hard on for the tail seal? if you're worried about it being hard/dry/brittle and not sealing after sitting for so long...I've got news for you about alllllllll the seals inside the unit

junk yard around here don’t think that way. They don’t leave fluids in anything. Just a potential leaker. I’m just hoping it works. It’s a gamble.

Moroon Monter LS1,
I know. I just want to replace cheap easily replaced pcs until I know it works. I know it’s a crapshoot even buying this, it just sorta happened. I generally tend to buy new or rebuilt pcs as I hate throwing $$$$away
