With any stall most recommend a tranny cooler...you will be running just a bit hotter and its woth $60.

i would not even drive the car for more than 2 minutes without a cooler. you would haveta be crazy to drive a stalled car with no cooler! i have the same verter and had a 24K cooler, and that wasnt good enough. i had to go with the biggest one the 28k. get a big *** cooler b4 you start doin anything, or you will destroy your trans indefinately.

Do you think the transmission will be ok for the 20 minute drive home from the shop...without the tranny cooler? I have a 24k at home.

You'll be fine, the cooler is cooling insurance. Your trans won't die if you don't install one right away.

I think it would be a good idea to install a transmission temperature gauge...
