Cableless 4L60E shifter- does it exist?
Hi,
I've got a 4l60e LS1 conversion in an 85 TransAm with a b&m megashifter and have some major force required to shift. Between the aging shifter and the lack of room for the cable, mixed with the fact the cable has to s bend to work, I've had enough.
I'm not interested in paddle shifting, but was wondering if anyone, gas made some sort of solenoid or stepper motor controlled shifter that eliminates the need for a cable driven shifter?

Short answer: NO.
Cableless shifters are an accident waiting to happen, if you ask me. I'm sure that someone could adapt one of the cableless systems to a 4L60, but I'm sure there would be a lot of teething pains along the way.
Why don't you just ditch the shitty B&M shifter for a factory unit/ cable? I've never heard anything good about the B&M units, except that some people think they look cool.

Ya I would run stock shifter setup, the linkage can be swapped from your original 700R4. Also, make sure to swap the "rooster comb" that controls the gear detents. The console shifted transmissions got one that takes less effort to move the shifter vs the column shifted ones. I believe the rooster comb is gold in colour.
EDIT: the proper rooster comb might help you with your B&M shifter btw....

I tried a google search but it wasn't helpful.
