4l80e Rebuild Help
I recently just finished rebuilding my 4l80e using a Jake's performance rebuild kit. I have searched up and down on the forums but can't seem to find a similar enough issue to justify pulling the trans back out since I am not entirely sure what I need to look for. The trans will slip if in D4, but is still able to move. If I put the trans in D3, it has 1st through 3rd gear, but first gear will slip only once the engine is above 4000rpm, it is sudden and seems to be load dependent. Reverse also will move the truck, but it slips. From what I have read, no movement in D4 but movement in D3 is a symptom of the overrun roller not be installed correctly, which is plausible considering this is my first rebuild, however it seems like there would be no movement whatsoever, not the slipping that I am seeing. I followed the instructions with the Jake's Performance kit and removed the specified checkballs and installed the accumulator block off plate. What I am wondering is if these symptoms could be caused by check ***** being in the incorrect position or if this is likely an issue with the overrun roller not being installed correctly. If it matters, the trans shifts into second and third firmly and does not slip when in D3.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated, I'm not sure where to start with figuring out what was done wrong when I rebuild the trans.
