Default Anyone have issues getting a Yank converter?

All,

Just trying to find out if I am the only one. I ordered a Yank converter 9 weeks ago and still have not received it. Dave has told me that it should be shipping soon a couple times now, that last time was on June 29.

Has anyone ordered from Yank in the last 3 months? If so, did you get your converter in a decent amount of time?

The stated lead time on the website says 4 weeks.

Thanks

I ordered one about a year ago, I forget exactly how long it took but it was over two months before it came in.

So many Products (Items and regular consumables) are still in an irregular state of flux, where Demand is UP, Cost is UP, and Supply is LOW/ SLOW.
(I mean this, as in Automatic Transmission Parts, to Dairy Products... and Electrical/ Electronics Surface Mount Devices to Medical Supplies)...
All walks of life and all aspects of life.

I think you should check out freak show performance. They are up there with FTI in terms of quality and they can bend fins. They ship within a few days.

Personal experience has been nothing but poor for my customers dealing with freakshow converters

I will no longer warranty a transmission that uses a converter from them

Youre one of the first to really make a negative claim about them. Just curious, if you able to tell me, what were some issues your customers were dealing with ? I’d guess it’s something to do with their clutches ?

if I'm one of the first you've seen or heard make a negative claim, you're not looking very hard

quality is flat out not comparable to FTI or a multitude of other vendors I've worked with

converter clutch issues
bushings instead of bearings for thrust
non brazed fins
overall build height being missed by tenths...not .0001...but .1
etc

Here's an example of the booger welded internals coming apart.
This is not a HP issue...this is a garbage quality control issue

I don't want to slander them...maybe they're better now. But this has been my experience with customers that use freakshow...and that is why I will not warranty anything that uses a converter from them

Boys and Girls, do not set your Welder to the Freezer Setting and expect to get any "Penetration"!

No "Oochie-Wally" for you Junior! So you'll have to "YANK" harder!
A New-Born Boy would get it "all up in dere" deeeeeeper!

We build converters, and I'm not a Yank fan, but the supply chain is screwed right now. Converter parts specifically have been problematic. Also even when you get a large order in, you can't build them all in a day. So I would suggest being patient.

Looks like a 245mm. Gotta be careful welding those. The turbine hub is nice thick 4340. The turbine is sheetmetal.
Other cores the turbine welds more to the existing thick center.
Obviously they failed but it's also easy to blow holes in the parts.

Torch/ Gun Position, Angle and Technique is where success or failure will come into play...

Your Pool needs to form on the Thicker Material and then push, deposit and penetrate the Thinner Material.
Otherwise you either burn through the Thin Material, or the opposite and do not get any penetration.
