4l60e Torque converter issues ?

Default 4l60e Torque converter issues ?

I have a 2000 firebird with a 4l60e, I’ve noticed when I punch it wot around 40 to 60 mph the rpms will shoot up for a second or 2 then drop, then continue to climb. It still pulls like a bat out of hell but the transmission has acted strange ever since it was two quarts low on trans fluid…. It was slipping pretty bad but I changed the trans fluid and diff oil, haven’t had a slipping issue since. I think the torque converter might be locking up then unlocking not sure. From a dead stop it shifts like it should 1 to 3 wot, normal acceleration shifts fine. Half throttle is a bit delayed. I have a video of it right here. Ps I have no codes

You converter shouldn't be locking up until 4th gear.

Stock tune on a 2002 WS6 locks the converter up in 3rd gear.

Im leaning towards the torque converter being shot. I shouldn’t be smacking the rev limiter right way when flooring it at 50 mph. Low speed while driving up a hill revs up high before catching as well.

If I floor it from a dead stop all gears shift as they should. Which is weird

do you have a log?
First of all...if you're in OD shifter position and just hammer the throttle it's going to violently downshift.
A. that's hard on the trans.
B. it might be shifting, accelerating, then shifting and dropping to the flash stall of the converter

A log and pressure data would be much more useful than your video

I don’t ever go wot in od, I’m gonna watch a video on how to check the trans pressure. I’m a newbie mechanic at best so sorry for the lack of info. I’ll report back with logs

In park it was at 25 psi the gauge had long enough hose to see while driving, wot it was 112, after those runs it wouldn’t get out of first so it’s toasted doing a full rebuild next week found a shop that isn’t outrageous, 2000$ for a rebuild. My buddy has a 2001 ss and that’s the shop who built his and he drives like a bat out of hell, he’s at 30k miles on it so far no issues

Yep, that pressure is way too low and has most likely damage all of the clutches.
