Default Blocking 3-2 valve

Is blocking the 3-2 valve necessary for a 4l60e? If so how do you guys do it? Use some stainless tubing to replace springs? I've looked at some diagrams and it's just another leak point it seems plus it would also allow for the shift timing and feel by just using a single controlled orifice on the SP

It's not necessary, but as you mentioned, it eliminates leaks.
You will have to tailor your band release orifice accordingly.
