Default 1st gear+ OD = 5 speed ?

4 solenoids in a 4L60.
What happens if we engage 1st gear clutch AND Overdrive at same time ?
1st gear + OD gets close to a 2 to one reduction ratio, fill in gap between 1st and 2nd.
5 available forward ratios.... 4L60 becomes a 5L60
Anyone done this ?
What is the down side ?

Um
What?

I've covered this before.
The 4l60e is a 2 speed transmission with an overdrive reduction
What we call
1
2
3
4

is really
Lo
Low OD
High
High OD

Can break down the ratios if you need to see the math...but that's all that is happening

Not sure where you get the idea that there are 4 shift solenoids either

Shift sol A
Shift sol B
TCC enable
TCC Reg
3-2 downshift control
EPC

only 2 of those 4 have anything to do with what ratio is active.
