Hey Guys, 02 camaro z28 with 187k. Few weeks ago under WOT the transmission dumped about half of its fluid out under the car, huge white cloud of smoke, and underside is coated with fluid. Pulled the pan last night to look around, change the filter, and rule out the pan gasket even though I figured it wasn’t that. Drove it today and same problem. I’m thinking it’s the seal on the front of the pump, but when I pulled the inspection cover(s) it dry in the bell housing but the leak seems to be coming from between the bell and the back of the motor, so this one’s got me a little stumped. Any help would be appreciated!

 

Check your trans vent and tube. I'm confident that could be it.

Any mods to the trans? Have you been filling the trans with fluid? Sure it's at the proper level?

Overfilled or overheating trans can cause fluid to puke out of the vent
