4L60E - No forward or reverse gears?

4L60E - No forward or reverse gears? Hi All,
I had my car off the road for a few months while I had to pull the LS1 and 4L60E trans out to fix a cracked sump.
Trans was working perfectly before then, and now when I frist went to drive it it revved up more than normal but eventually moved forward. I parked it, washed it, and when I went to reverse it back in the shed, nothing.
I moved the shifter back between neutral and drive and reverse and it seemed like it engaged for a second but then went back to neutral.
The transmission was only about 300kms since rebuild and never missed a beat.
What could cause this to happen?
Is there any electrical event, i.e. 13 pin plug not attached, or a fuse that would cause it not to change gear at all, or should physically selecting the gear at least give me some movement?
I havent had a chance to look underneath yet and check the linkage cable and electrical connector until I can push the car back in,but I'd like to know whether I'm looking for an electrical issue or internal one?

since you had both the engine and transmission out make sure the torque converter didn't become disengaged from the front pump. also make sure you still have both line up dowels in the engine block. before the torque converter is bolted to the fly wheel it should spin freely and you should be able to move it back and forth easily. check the transmission and engine harnesses for any pinched wires, connectors not properly seated or any missed grounds. a shop that i work at part time had a tech swapping an engine that had a no start issue afterwards and he started chasing his tail with wiring diagrams, pcm output etc. i told him he probably built in the problem since the vehicle drove in. ended up being a disconnected ground.
