So I'm planning on switching from nitrous to forced induction soon in my 2000 silverado. Right now I'm pushing around 600 rwhp to my 4l65. I'm thinking I should make the switch to a 4l80 because I'm looking to get at least 700 out of it boosted. My question is my loyal junkyard has a few chevy express, are all of these 4l80 transmissions and that be compatible with my 5.3.
2000 express with a 5.7
2001 express with 5.7
2004 express with 6.0

The 2004 with the 6.0 should be a 4L80. Have the junkyard tell you if it is or not. Look at the trans pan.
This pic is a 2005, 6.0, has 17 bolts

I wouldnt dare trust the words of any of the people that work in that place. I was looking it up online and I couldn't find a definitely answer because some sites show the 4l80 with the 5.7 and some show the 4l60 but the 17 bolt thing is definitely good advice. I'll keep that in mind when I go look

All of those should be 4L80e, provided they have 8 lug wheels. I'm not sure if GM had switched to the top LS bellhousing bolt on the crossover years where they were still putting SBCs in those vans. But I don't really think it matters.


Edit: I think at some point the some vans got "2500" on the door panels but with 6 lugs. Those had the 4L60e. Kinda like the 2500 "Light Duty" of the GMT400 trucks.
