High torque DCT Transaxle - Mid Engine Race Car Project
Almost all of us are engineers across different fields and bring certain skills to the table which is neat. Computer, electrical, mechanical, aerospace. Apart from that one doctor friend who knows nothing about cars but is willing to contribute.
We are in the early stages of this project. No chassis has been selected yet because we are choosing a chassis based on the powertrain. However, certainly, a NA high compression small block on race fuel will be used... so roughly 650 ft lbs of torque. A bunch of rear downforce, emphasis on aerodynamics, weight distribution, slicks. We plan on scanning the chassis and using simulations to aid in design and suspension, combatting wheel spin....really exciting stuff.
What are some financially reasonable options? Does anyone have any experience or knowledge they could share?
Thanks,
Zach

We’ve also considered using a used McLaren transaxle, made by Graziano and found in a few mid engine super cars. Has anyone ever fit one of these on a small block?
Edit, I found this and think I’ll reach out to the guy: https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversio...-cayman-4.html

I Haven't seen one in many years so just thought of it, Basically it is a 200-4r with a turn at rear to come back forward to a differential . Like I said the hard part might be finding a donor car .
https://www.charlietranny.com/325-4L.htm if building a mid engine car seem like a pretty solid alternative. If you can find one anyway.
