Default 4L60E Filter clearance from bottom of pan

I have a 4L60E I'm putting back together and I have a question about the clearance of the filter inlet to the bottom of the pan. My pan is cast aluminum roughly 3 1/2" inches deep on the inside measured from the rail. If I use a filter extension with a standard filter the flat body of filter is angled up towards the valve body almost to the height that the filter inlet would be without the extension which to me is not correct. The filter inlet should be down closer the the bottom of the pan to make use of the extra fluid capacity of the pan, correct?

Does someone make a filter that would fit the filter extension that puts the filter inlet flat to the bottom of the pan?

Hopefully this makes sense.

A stock truck pan is 3" deep. You may be able to get a filter for the truck pan to work with some mods to your filter adaptor.

You could try the truck filter as mentioned with your extension, But another solution is the corvette filter with the snout you can use it without the extension on most of those deep aluminum pans i have used. just make sure the pan is such the snout does not go flat on bottom most I have seen have a dip to prevent that,

Thanks. Here are some pictures. Should have done this when posted the question. I tried the truck filter, it was to deep for the pan. I will try the Corvette filter, you don't by chance have a PN for the Corvette filter?

From those pictures it looks like the filter you have will work. It's okay if it rests on the bottom of the pan. If it doesn't the filter will fall out of the pump.

My concern was the tilt. It's higher at the rear/inlet of the filter.

Yes that filter and position would defeat the whole Idea of the deep pan. Go to autozone and try this one TF351. it should sit on or close to bottom of pan

If you turn the transmission right side up that end of the filter will sag down to the bottom of the pan.

In my case what I like to do with this pan type is no extension and use the corvette filter cutting 4 v notches in the pickup if pan bottoms flat or none if as I mentioned before it has the recess where pickup come down which seems many do, Might be something to consider looking at.

Thanks Frank, After looking at one of the filters that is what I'm going to do.
