Default T42 Plug

How in the heck do you get the T42 plug apart to move a pin???
I got the blue cover off, but can't figure out how to separate the plug parts like the ECM plugs on a E38. I need pics or a video. Couldn't find it on Utub.
Thanks!!

I have a set of snap on pin tools and 99% of the time I use a $10 set I got off amazon. I like the cheap ones better.

I am looking on Amazon---they don't specify part numbers, I guess it is the multiple set. Thanks Lorenz

Search "Connector pin tool" on Amazon. I have successfully used the $7 chain of tools. They are fragile though. I see a 82-piece kit which has all the chain tools in triplicate.

Thats what I have, just bought a couple sets so I have one in each tool box. For me personally I am more careful with them since they are not as strong as the snap on ones. Less likely to damage a connector with the cheap ones, tool will break first. When I used to re-do whole harness I would use the snap on but for one or two connectors I grab the cheap ones everytime.

I ordered the Kweiney 18 piece set for 7.99.

Thanks for the info. Getting this 4L80 to work is making my hair thinner

I got the pins. Tried the small pin that fit into the small pin hole. It goes in about 3/4 of the way easily. A little push and it goes all the way---still no release. I have tried it about 30 times along with pulling on the wire, wiggling the wire, trying other pins, and cannot get any to release. I read the instructions that were posted---yes, I pulled the little fork thing out of the plug. I am about ready to massage this plug with my 3# hammer. It shouldn't be this hard. Thanks for ANY ideas

There are 3 TPA Locks to Remove:
-The Single Blue GT280 One-Way Blue TPA Lock.
-The Two-Pronged Blue (U-Shaped) TPA Lock.

-And the 48-Way Grey TPA Lock.

Once all removed, the Terminal Removal Tool can be inserted into the Front of the Connector Body:

The Tool needs to be inserted into the Opening-Space that resides and connects Two Terminal Position Holes together in a Small "Arch" shape:

The Terminal Removal Tool should be putting pressure against a Locking-Tang that Holds the Two-Grouped Terminals together.
At the same time the Corresponding Wire should be Pulled on from the Back-Side of the Connector-Body.

I didn't know the blue U shaped piece and the gray piece had to come off also. Those are some nice pics---where do you get them?
I am going out to try it.
THANKS!!!

Removing the blue U shaped piece only gives access to the ground wire.
Removing the gray piece that is around the other 48 wires removes all of the wires and pins from the black piece. That would be a headache to try and get all of the pins back in the right holes. I released 3 of the gray snap locks and lifted it a little and saw that was not going to work. I guess I am ordering the GM pin release tool pictured. Maybe the China pin thing is not long enough. #^%&$&(^%%^#*^%#
